I am looking at purchasing a CD changer for my 2005 530i from someone. Does anyone know if the unit will play MP3 formated discs, if the unit displays track titles for regular CDs and track titles for MP3s(if it plays them)? This would be the only reason I would buy the unit. Also, does anyone know what the dealer charges to "acivate" the unit?

As far as I know the CD changer has never been capable of playing mp3's, only the in-dash player has that capability...

Right now only the in dash center console CD Drive will play MP3s the CD changer will as of March 2007.

On my new 520d SE that I picked up yesterday, the CD player will play MP3, but the CD changer will not so if your sole reason for getting one was MP3 don't bother. Spend the money you save on getting an ipod installed!

Here is the solution for getting MP3 player through CD changer:
1. Get AUX installed
2. Get Dominic module installed
3. Hook up CX-DH801U 8-Disc CD/DVD Changer which play MP3 to AUX input and Dominic video input.
Now you're done.
Imagine having 8 CD filled with MP3? That's awesome and it's my plan. Once I'm done with all my mod, I'll post my pic on this site.

But is a dvd changer already on the market to plug into the aux? My 4Gig nano is fine, but guess what, I still miss capacity to put more songs on.

Archos gmnin is also 20GB, but I am heading toward for Mini Mac or other hdd player I mean above the 20GB. just my 0.02. I am sorry I also buy and listen to CDs but when you have the capacity you can get crispy quality MP3 too.
