My Ride: On order 530D Platinum Bronze/Natural Brown Comfort seats, sunroof,PDC, Nav pro,Aux In,Xenons, Alarm, tinted glass.
ETD 27.06.07
Took my 10 day old LCI to the garage to have the official plates fitted. Mentioned a very slight problem starting the car. Oh, they said did you fill up with diesel at the LeClerc supermarket between Wed & Fri? Yes, I says. Oh well you've filled it with petrol. It seems that for 3 days the diesel pump was distributing petrol. 600 cars affected.
Now it's an insurance job, new fuel pump, injectors and god know what else. Visitors from Hong Kong arriving on Monday so I'm not a happy chap at all. I've read about people filling up from the wrong pump, but you sort of have to trust the garage. Aaaaaaaargh!

My Ride: E46 330, E60 550 on order: Carbon Black/Natural Brown, 6MT.
Wow. Sorry to hear that. Misfueling a diesel isn't good. At least it sounds like you know the cause, and won't have to fight with insurance.
On the bright side, at least you weren't in an airplane. Piston aircraft are often misfueled with jet fuel. When it happens, there's usually just enough petrol left in the fuel lines for the plane to take off before losing power.
Not good.

Oh, and I hope it's Leclerc's insurance and not yours. There was something similar with petrol quality here in UK and the garages funded parts replacements with proof of fuel purchase.

Push for a new car from the petrol station because your BMW warranty on the engine and fuel system will be shot.
And, as you probably know, new cars are supplied by insurers (usually only during the first year of ownership from new) only if the repair cost would cause the car to be "written off".
Things may be different in France, of course.

+1. hope everything turns out alright for you.
Grateful if the forum experts could suggest if there are likely to be any long term problems that may not be readily apparent at the moment and that may appear some weeks/months down the road. As you will have realised my mechanical forte extends only to opening wine bottles.

What station was that?
They will/must pay for all costs including a fully brand new engine to your car
and a similar loaner for the time your car is at the BMW dealers.
You must also get a new diesel tank and all fuel lines must be replaced.
All in all, a ten days old car should actually be fully replaced.
