My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Sport Carbon Black Metallic/Cream Beige Manny tranny and other stuff Recently gone, but never forgotten: 2005 Ford Mustang GT (hence the name) Torch Red/Crimson Manny tranny and every option available for that year 2002 Chrysler 300M Special Brilliant Black/Light Taupe/Dark Slate Autostick and goo-gobs of neat features that I will sorely miss
Thumbs up

Was told at the dealer and read somewhere online that Carbon Black Metallic is only available on the 550i (Sport?). Does that also exclude the M5 from getting the color?

Yes. For US E60s, carbon black is only available on the 550 sport.

In the UK, Carbon Black is an option on any M-Sport car (from the 520d / 520d upwards). It is not available on non-sport models even the 550 - you get jet black or sapphire black.

In Canada, CB is available on the cars that can have the MSport package, so 550i gets it as all 550i in Canada are MSport. Also, CB is available on 535i and 535xi if they are ordered with the MSport option.

I just did some jiggling around and swapped my ordered 535xi for another one with the MSport package - but I stayed with the Alpine White color I originally picked. Coming off 2 black vehicles in a row, another one was just too much work for me to keep clean. Getting lazy, I guess.
