your battery could be just below enough power to crank but still have power to due those actions such as windows and lights. You may want to try and charge your battery. Hope it works out.

Your starter could be bad. It happened to mine and it needed to be replaced. The starter replacement in the E60 is a long and expensive repair because many parts need to be removed to access the starter.

How much would starter cost, roughly??????

The car was working fine. Even took it out last night, no problem... But today when I tried to start, bad luck!!!

Mine was done under warranty. The biggest hit is the labor. Dealer said that the repair would have cost somewhere about $2K-$3K if not under warranty.

Try charging the battery, best bet. Any warnings.

Or try a jump start to rule out the starter as the problem. Accessories like windows and radio don't require the juice necessary to start your car. Battery replacements are a common service issue. If you're out of warranty try one of the direct fit replacements available at any decently stocked retail auto parts store like Autozone, etc.

My starter problem involved the failure of the solenoid. So when I tried to start it, the starter would "click" like crazy but the engine would not turn over.
