CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
#1
i have gone trough every possible thread ive seen similiar issues but not quite the one i have just ran into.
i purchased a 545i about a month ago with around 119 thousand miles on it.
i went to the mall then to a friends house on saturday morning. I parked in the driveway and came back out in literly a couple of minutes when the car wouldent start.
i tried jumping it from both under the hood and directly to the battery and NOTHING.
the key turns, but there is no crank, not no click no nothing.
all im getting is a "yellow key symbol" on the idrive system
all the inner and exterior lights work, im sure the battery is fine, but i have NO CLUE what to do next, please help!!!!!!!
i have tried starting the car afterwards but still no response...
PLEASE ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Yellow key symbol on the idrive system, does it chime when you try to start it? Does your car have the key fob or actual keyed ignition. My only suggestion would be to replace the battery in the key fob but chances are thats not the issue. Good luck.

I have the same key you do, and I am not completely sure, but I think you cannot replace the battery in these. I thought they were charged when put in the ignition, which means using the 2nd key should work if you have it. If not it would be a wise investment to get one.

I think the car is recognizing the key since the dash lights are going on. Maybe its not recognizing that you are stepping on the brake. I am assuming there is a switch or something that tells the car the brake has been stepped on in order to start (since it doesnt start when you dont step on the brake).
Was going to reply to one of your 7 threads on the other forum site - I assume you hit the enter button feverishly! This site is usually much better for info quickly.
