Wishful thinking, this thread was meant to be in this section.......
Was wondering what the statistics are in your neck of the woods. Out here in Malaysia, the e60s aren't as popular as the Japanese brands.
Anyone know what the e60 car security is like. I was told that without the key to the car, its virtually impossible to steal the car. So hot wiring the car won't work????
Cheers

Two ways I know of stealing an E60 (or any BMW for that matter) - (1) steal (or duplicate) a key OR (2) flatbed it.

Flatbed??? Unfamiliar term. Do you mean to tow the car??

Yes. But instead of actually towing the car, you lift (or tow) the car onto a truck that has a "flatbed" deck and the truck just carries the car away.
If I recall correctly, the BMW manual says you should not "tow" the car (i.e., lift and drag), but use on the flatbed method I describe above.
Just relax, drive the car and if it gets stolen ... well, then, buy another one.

Plus the alarm system sounds when it detects changes in tilt (i.e. the car is being towed).
