Hello All,

I just wanted to know if your car squeaks when you are driving? I'm talking about when you are turning a corner, stopping, or even starting from a dead stop. I hear a lot of squeaks that seems to come from the doors. Just wanted to know if this is normal. My car info is in my sig.

Any input is welcome.

Thanks

The door seals need to be replaced. If your car is still under warranty BMW should do free of charge. Take a look at the attached document. Good Luck.

Yep, it's the infamous door seals, a well known issue. Do a search as you can find the BMW info on changing them out for under warranty. Or take a soft cloth and a mild detergent like Dawn, with some water, and clean the where the seals make contact with the body. I have found the noise comes from wax getting on the painted body where it meets the rubber seal...

Yes, the car is still under warranty until 09. I will take it to my local BMW dealer and let them replace the seals.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks, since it's still under warranty, I'll let them deal with it. Is this a one time thing, or does it come back if the seals are replaced?

Clean the door seals with a damp CLEAN terrycloth or microfiber towel, let dry. do the same to the door jamb...clean towel and water. your car should be squeak free.

I had the seals replaced under warranty on my old 545 and the creaking came back. I still get it on my 550. It always occurs after I have the car detailed/waxed by the guy in my office building. Does a great job but I have found that the wax or its residue brings back the creaking. Cleaning as I or 550i now describe has always solved the issue, on both my old car and the new one. At least until my next waxing...

No matter how many time you change the seals, the spueaks will come back in few months time, thats the common issue with our E60.
I think pinguhk has resolve this problem with Vaseline and do a search in the DIY section.

No squeaks in my '05 nor in my 5 month old '08.

Do not wax them.
