Default Car Shakes When I Start the Car

Hi,

I’m very curious as to why my 2007 BMW 530i E60 shakes for about a second or not even when I start the car up hot or cold every time. I’ve tried to check everything but can’t really see why it would be happening. Spark plugs and ignition coils look fine. Maybe engine mounts or something internal /:

Kind Regards,

Matt

That could be caused by a lot of things. Providing the DTC codes thrown, would help out immensely.

So I haven’t seen anything in relation to DTC or any problems with it. Would I have to get it properly checked for codes?

Use a BMW code reader, or you can install INPA / ISTA software on to a laptop, I prefer a standalone code reader myself.

What reader would you recommend is really good for BMW cars? I know there’s Foxwell, Angel etc.

so if the DTC is all good then what could it be?

Any device can read basic DTC codes.

I've owned Creator 110+, Foxwell, Ancel, and currently own an Autophix.

Which type you need, all depends on how mechanic-like you want to be.

It's not your engine mounts you need to do a smoke test to see if you have a vacuum leak (most probable). You CCV hoses if they have not been replaced are your likely issue. Below is what you should get if it is leaking

Hey guys,

So BMW have changed the PCV valve kit, ignition coils and spark plugs. Still shakes on start up, they did mention engine mounts but that wouldn't be the cause. it was worse after they played around with it. What could it be.. oil filter?!

Very odd.. Car has done like 220,000 kms.

Cheers,

Matt

If it's worse after they played with it that means there's something that they touched and made it worse. Did you have BMW diagnose it or told them what to change. Did you have a smoke test done or did they test it before changing parts.

All they said was spark plugs were worn and some of the ignition coils were old so they recommended replacement. They had to replace a certain plug to do with the intake manifold or PCV, some of it corroded apparently. I just don’t understand why it would take so long. They’ve had the car for nearly 2 weeks /: they haven’t spoken about anything to do with smoke test. Cause they did the full diagnosis to find out what’s wrong with the car and all it was are PCV kit, engine mounts, plugs and coils..
