Hi! My car is 2006 530i with 61000 miles. I have oem 166 wheels. Car shakes and can feel vibration on the steering wheel at 60mph when car is cold at initial run. . After running for about 10mins and car is pretty warm up, shaking is gone. What seems to be the problem? I just had it balanced at a reputable tire company,

my yokohamas do this. they are rated to last a lot longer than the oem goodyear rs-a's. i think these cars are meant to have softer tires that ride better but don't last long at all.

Mines also do this in the morning. The first few kilometers it's like boom boom boom boom as if you have square tires. I had a Porsche and it was the same (soft Continental SportContact) as I have now on the 525i which runs Bridgestones. Sometimes the tires are just old independent of how many km's they drove. Check the production date indication (week + year).

That's called camber wear. Our cars, especially in the rear, have a slight negative camber for better traction. Worn shocks and suspension bushing can definitely cause more than normal camber wear. If you have more than 75K miles, I wouldn't be surprised if you needed new shocks and some control arm replacements due. If all that is good, than a good 4-wheel alignment should fix the uneven wear.

Our X5 did the same thing but it never cleared. Always seemed to vibrate above 50 regardless. They tires had ~ 12000 and were Conti's They were replaced with Michelins and the problem was gone. These Conti's developed flat spots and never seem to get rid of it.

My 2004 530i shakes like a wet dog over 100ks. Had the wheels balanced 3 times, and have just had them balanced again by a company who thinks they have fixed it. I'm not confident at all. As a matter of fact - I'm not sure I should have a BMW after the crap I'm going though with this car - and some of the remarkably helpful BMW service people (NOT)
