Car no longer flashes/beeps when i lock it

My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i

The car is still set to flash/beep when lock when i pull up the settings on idrive. what gives? The car flashes when i unlock it as it's programmed to do

Could that setting vary based on the key you are using?

Check to make sure all doors plus the hood and trunk are properly closed...

I suspect that somehow, the car thinks something is still open. I don't know what type of sensors the car uses to determine if the door/trunk/hood are open but if you're sure everything is closed properly, then maybe a sensor is failing?

when you hit the lock button, does everything actually lock?

This is unconfirmed but I believe for my situation the Boot lid pushbutton on the trunk was not returning to its fully release position after I pressed it to open the trunk. The system would still arm after about 10 seconds but it would not give the single beep confirmation. It would continue to beep twice when unlocking.
