I thought I would treat my car to a new set of mats. The last set of OEM mats lasted for 6 years. I just found out that something changed in 2004 and the mats are 'supposedly' different. But why? Did the floor plan change? I couldn't find the 2006 mats so I've bought the 2004 ones, so I'll know in a few days if I've thrown money away or not.
Thank goodness I didn't spec the car with it. I got them on ebay for less than £40 each time, still cannot believe why BMW charge that much for mats.

Not quite sure. I have the 2004 and have the original mats but I bought generic all weather for the front, lined up my old mats and cut the new ones. Worked great. RAINY SEASON has arrived here.

Got mine today. Infact I prefer the 2004 ones to the 2006 ones because the underside of the mat seems to grip the floor carpet better in the 2004 ones. There appears to be no other difference both interms of shape or mounting.
If any one wants Genuine ones see http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2709503185...#ht_691wt_1163
