some times (quite rare but seams to happen when over taking) when i put my foot to the floor the car accelerates but 2 seconds later starts to lose power, only way to get the power back is to like stamp the accelerator a few times then its back to normal
has happened a few times when over taking which has been a bit annoying
is this some sort of safety feature im triggering or does my auto box need resetting?
any one had similar issues
Thanks
the car is a 2.5 diesel Auto

Doesn't sound like a transmission issue as you say it initially kicks in.
A long list of possible causes, which without further diagnosis is guesswork.
I'd likely be looking at the turbo inake pipework or actuator - but get it scanned for any logged errors - paying close attention to any overboost or pressure issues reported to the intake /exhaust.
It may of course not be that at all - so consider this simply as the path I'd be considering if I had symptoms currently described.

Could it be that your DSC is taking over? Maybe it needs a smoother transition.

I have a similar intermittent problem.
My car is an LCI 525d, and a manual
Occasionally when going to accelerate there is no extra power, or hardly any on flooring it. I've noticed that the fuel consumption indicator only goes down to 30 mpg, rather than down to single figures as you would expect.
I have taken it back to the stealer, no fault codes showing so as far as they are concerned there's nothing wrong, and of course the problem never .
I'll be interested to know how you get on, and I'll post again if I have any further news.

for a moment, I tot I hv similar situation like member Russdx but mine is 525i, petrol engine.
I had a couple of similar situation, when I push accelerator down, OBD show "engine fault, max speed 40kph!"
it kind of dangerous at times, especially when you are overtaking some cars, and loss yr power.
The engine only allow me to drive at 40kph max, so what I do was, I drove to side of road, shut down and re-start engine.
Then I can drive like normal.
anyone has any similar situation like mine?
