Thumbs up

Hi, I got a small problem o searched but didn?t found anything on the forum.

The problem is I can?t unlock or lock or open the trunk with the car remote, I have to use the key manually right now, I taught it was just to change the battery, but when I can?t figure out how to open the key without damage it, I checked the car manual, and the wrote that the car key is rechargeable when the key is in the car when you drive. And I have now drove yesterday from gothenburg to Copenhagen in Denmark 350km , but still it is not recharged. is the battery fault? or Do I have to do anything more?

I will drive back to gothenburg later today.

Did you disconnect the car battery or anything? Do you do anything to the car before this happened?

Weird. The only time I lost all my remote function was when i disconnected the battery. Anyways, after I lost it all, it was not a big problem. I just bring it to the dealer and they reprogram my keys and everything works fine. Try using the spare key, if both keys doesn't work, then it just needs programming (fingers crossed), or else some module might've failed.

I had the same problem with my last car, an E39. Turned out to be a blown cental locking system fuse in the fuse box located in the trunk. I replaced the fuse and it blew again. The root cause was the locking mechanism for the gas filler door. Apparently it was a quite common problem. I don't know if the E60 has the same design, but it something to consider.

Checking the fuses would be step one, if no fuses are blown then try the second key..

If it's just the trunk and not the doors it is possible that you turned the key to the valet position on trunk.
Try turning the key one position to the left , I think.

Even on the valet position the remote should open the trunk. Especially if you press the "trunk open" button!
