When my 530i was delivered a couple of weeks ago, the dealer gave me a "BMW Car & Key Memory Customer Selection Form" that showed the default settings for the U.S. (Indiana). I stopped by the dealership today and asked that two of the settings be changed -- Daytime Running Lights from "not active" to "active" and Driver's Seat Position Memory from "not active" to "active (when unlocking the car)." In the latter case, this setting allows the driver's seat position to be the same as the last time that particular key was used.

Guess what! These are two more features, at least according to this dealer's service tech, that are not yet available. So, why did they give me the form, which invites you to choose different settings by checking the boxes? Has anyone else encountered this situation?

Daytime running lights is the only one the dealer has to program. The key to seat position setting is controllable thru the Idrive.

Where? I have not seen that. What menu and selections?

The key to seat position setting is controllable thru the Idrive.

BillyBob - sorry my answer was really not complete. Check the on line owner's manual page 38 for reference to set the key activated seat memory function:

1. Open the I menu by pressing down on the controller

2. Select "vehicle settings" and press the controller

3. Select "door locks" and press the controller

4. Select "central locking" and press the controller

5. Select "last seat position" and press the controler

6. Select "after unlocking" or "after door is open" and press the controller

This should set it up for you. The online owner's manual can be downloaded from the BMW Owner's Circle site. One nice thing about the online manual is that all the page numbers in the table of contents and index are links which you can click on and get directly to the page you are interested in. Really convenient!
