I recently realized that when I shut off my CD changer, the music continued to advance. For example if I was on track 1, shut it off and then turned it back on 1/2 hour later it would be on track 10 and so forth. I asked my dealer who told me that the on off button on cars with iDrive is only a mute button. I thought it odd, especially in a car with so much technology and can think of no benefit to this. Can anyone explain??
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff:
Your problem is a common one. Many continue to advance even after the car is turned off. I think that a software update is the only cure.

Mine worked perfectly until I got the mp3 software update in May 2006. I have mp3
but now it's got the above problem.
The software version is pretty recent. The question now is :
Did the mp3 upgrade cause this, or is this particular version just buggy ?
ps is there an SIB out for this??

I believe it is a software issue. But, until you get the update, switch over to FM before turning off the audio system and I believe the CD player will shut down at the point where you turned it off.

I originally had the problem, then a software upgrade fixed it, then another software upgrade broke it.
Clearly, this "feature" is dependent on your software version and is not the same for everyone...

I've always had the problem with various s/w updates. It doesn't seem to do it if the BT isn't paired though.
I think the official line is "It's being fixed in the next software release sir"

I'm not aware of any SW release that solves this problem. I've had it since the car was new and now have ver 22 installed. Still waiting for that elusive "SW upgrade" that will cure all ills.
