My Ride: 545 modded the F out
I was just cleaning out my car and I found it under the drivers seat at the rear of the cabin. Im almost certain its the device that links their diagnostics laptop or programming machine to the Idrive, but is this the no Sh!* module? Seems like something they would take a little more care of. I had them reprogram my car for the latest software and Ipod interface so it has to be it right? Anyways. Seems like it would be pretty valuable but I cant find anything on it. The SA and parts manager over there have been way to nice to me for me to keep it so I'll be returning it to them at my next visit

My Ride: 04 545i sport, stick, L7, sat, nav. Charcoal/ runflat/ cdv delete.
Suede headliner/ trunk, 3 way front speakers, four 8" subs in rear shelf, ACM, iPod dock in ash tray using gateway 500 with MP3 text and video on screen, MRTM aluminum pedals/ door pins, 10 farad cap, sound processor, line conditioner, 2 amps ( 4x100 and 2x200)
That looks like the fiber optic cable adaptor that is used along with the GT1. It is very expensive ( could be as much as $2,000? ). I am glad to hear you are going to do the right thing and return the adaptor to your dealer.

Yea, I've got no use for it anyways. I've had nothing but good experiences from them as of yet. Hope this scores me some points with them and maybe hook it up with something free. More than likely not but whatever

Yea man.. Whew. They literally had my car for nearly 2 weeks. Problems after problems but it all got resolved. They ended up updating the whole Idrive software as opposed to just enabling the MP3. For some crazy reason even with my software update the car would still not play MP3s. I slapped the Ipod interface into the car thinking that I didnt care about the MP3 not working since I ultimately did it for the interface anyways but again found that that too was broken!. The SA and Service manager hooked me up major and exhanged my broken interface with a brand spankin new one ( they also gave me the face plate to cover the open portion, which I wish I never bought). .
Whats confusing me now is I dont know if my car just wast reading the sprint booster correctly or not even at all (V1) but now after the software update it seems to actually give me the "jump" everyone talks about so boldly that I always thought was a bunch of BS. I don't know.
It could also be that I was driving a 2010 328 for a week and a half and then hopping back into the V8 was just a major power boost. Anyways, I highly recommend military any folk in the DC area to go to BMW of Arlington
