Can someone please explain what and wheel spacers and wheel offsetare.

What are wheel spacers. I hear about that when someone talks about changing wheels. The only thing I know is wheel spacers are circular metal things with holes in them. What is the difference between wheel spacers and wheel adapters. And what are wheel offsets 
?

Spacers sit between the wheel and the hub and "push" the wheels out closer to the fender lip for a wider stance. They also can be used to counter certain offset/rubbing issues.

My Ride: Jet Black '05 545i, Sport/Premium Pkg, Steptronic, Adaptive Xenon, Nav, L7, Blue2th, PDC,
spacers add "thickness" to the wheel hub and pushes the wheel outwards. your tires will end up closer to the fender lip. it gives it the aggressive stance and appearance and come in different sizes (thickness in mm) that go in between the wheel and rotor/disc while bolting wheel on.
