i honestly stopped caring about other peoples cars. to each his own. i tend to worry about my own car.
plus i've seen some e60s that look far more "ricey" than someone with a m5 badge on it, so when you think your laughing at his car, someones probably laughing at yours too.

I've only ever de-badged, and that was my Honda Civic.
The logic behind that was I didn't care for the way that Honda put "CIVIC" on the lower left side of the trunk and then "EX" on the upper right. Felt unbalanced and awkward.

Why does it (what others do to their cars) have to make sense to you or to me?
We all do silly things at various points in our lives...
Enjoy the ride :-)

a couple years ago my pakistan born fraternity brother re-badged his E46 323i sedan as an M3 over the holiday break. i promptly slapped him in the back of the head for it.

I can't understand why anyone would re-badge. Like one other poster stated he has done, I have de-badged because I didn't like the way an emblem looked but I would never re-badge to try and fool someone into thinking it is something it's not.
The same thing goes on with motorcycles, other brands of cars and I'm sure with other things as well.
I de-badged one of my motorcycles. I have a Kawasaki Versys and I didn't like the font they used for "Kawasaki" so I removed it and left only Versys. I also de-badged a '06 Mazda Miata I had. Mazda used 2 different fonts on the trunk lid; one font for Mazda and a different font for MX5. It really looked odd. I removed both and left only the Mazda emblem in the middle.
I read about posters on a Versys forum who removed all the badges from their Versys and put Ducati on them (the Versys looks sorta similar to a Ducati Multistrada to the uninformed). Same thing on a Miata forum; some removed the Mazda badges and stuck a Mercedes emblem on. I also see guys with Dodge Chargers who put SRT emblems on their cars. Lame, really lame!

In the end, they are only fooling themselves, and are probably petrified that some one with a lesser car will blow the doors off of their Pseudo-M5!
