My Ride: 2004 BMW 645 black sapphire metallic, 19" Style 166 (245/40 & 285/35 w 15mm spacers)
My previous car had factory sport suspension. Now I have M-sport suspension that comes with the M- kit. I have already noticed before that factory sport suspension is lower than M-kit suspenion. I can't understand this. I know that in E39 M-kit suspension looked the same height as the factory sport suspension. But now in E60 the M-kit suspension looks ridiculous. It has almost the same ride height as the standard E60. The only reasonable suspension is the original factory sport suspension. Here are the pictures to illustrate my question. Can anyone explain why M-kit suspension is so high?

Anyone else have red marks on M-kit springs?

Thanks,

It appears that the silver gray has chrome trim (in US this means non sports), but never mind that since you mention sport suspension on both. I have always noticed that all e60 without the V8 engine (sport or non sport) rode higher from factory than the e60 with V8. Didn't really answer your question, but are the two cars from the same year?

Yes, chrome trim means that it's not sport package as sport package has shadowline trim. But you can have sport suspension without sport package and this way you'll have a different kind of suspension than sport package has. That's the difference I can't understand.

It seems that with 18 inch Style 135 rims the ride height seems to be better.

Yes the 18" are designed for the M Kit sport suspension thats why the 19" wheels dont look well on your pictures

are your rims original BMW M166s, or are they from another manufacturer?
There are a number of other 5er in the Forum with M-Sport and original BMW M166s which look a lot lower than yours.
The M172 19s, which are an option with the M-Sport Package look fine, like the picture of your silver-grey 5er with the 19s.

The rims are original, I think there is something to do with the tire manufacturer as the sidewalls may differ a little which gives the wheel smaller or bigger look.
