I bought this car sight unseen from a CA dealer. Overall, its what I want and Im happy. The sales mgr told me the car was 'stunning'. I guess somewhere in that description includes cigarette burns on the drivers door panel. anyways...

Can this be fixed or do I have to buy a new door panel?

Im in Boston MA if anyone local knows where I can bring this for repair if thats an option.

Thanks!!

Looks like the quickest fix will be a new panel. I believe they would have to recover the damaged one entirely, and the grain/color match never will be exact.

Sorry to say, I doubt that it can be repaired neatly.

Damned smokers!

Well, I'm a smoker but I never smoke in my car nor inside my house (flat).

...damn. Well, im actually just guessing its a cigarette burn b/c of the location and it looks melted. however, the car has under 7900 miles and still smells new, so i dont think it was smoked in. Either way, i wanted to get it repaired.

Anyone have a door panel for an '08 550 that they want to sell? Doubt it, but figured i would ask...

Replaced, ESPECIALLY if you are a non-smoker!

New panel is 1K per realoem.com I'd take it to an upholstery shop and see what they say. Probably can use leather filler and apply a pattern to it.

Is there no warranty on the car? If it is sold as "stunning" they might replace it, or otherwise take a share in the costs?

There are vendors who routinely fix dents, paint, stripes, bent wheels, and upholstery. Ask around at dealers and other detailers if they can recommend a person who can repair these things.
If that is your only problem consider yourself lucky.
Enjoy the new car.

+1 .... a good auto upholstery shop can repair and match grain and color - it will be invisible. Check shop's references and look at their work - a bad repair will be worse than no repair.
