BTW, my back is still killing me in this M!

BTW, the thread added was related to back pain, which I am OK with. I did not read anything that would help my "Driving" position.

My problem is with the bottom section of the seat.

Funny this thread should happen to be here now. Today, I dropped off my M5 for its 1200 miles service and got a 535xi as a loaner. I was able to put over 50 miles on it. It has the base seats like my old 530xi, and I was instantly "at home" again. Ahhhhh! For me, the bucket look to the standard seats fits my back position better than the "lazy-boy" look & fit of the comfort seats. I prefer the flat, backward curvature of the standard seats along with the totally flat upper, shoulder areas so my shoulders can sit flush against that part without feeling pushed forward like in the comfort seats. And to be honest, I think my lats are just too wide

for the comfort seats....those side bolsters dig into me even fully deflated. The xi seats, while not as supportive, felt more comfy and roomy.

It took me 5 minutes to get the seat just right in the 535xi....and I'm still fiddling with my Comfort Seats after 6 weeks in the M5!

However, this doesn't mean I'll be swapping my M5 for the 535!

It's funny what you get used to and then miss once you don't have it. The tightness and solid feel of the M5 is lost in the 535xi, obviously....with no sport suspension and 17" rims. I was also missing 4 cylinders and 200HP, which I'd like back!

However, I found the 535 to be quicker than I had expected...very zippy! It was also nice to drive a straight auto for a day. As for the electronic shifter...I don't like the flimsy, "pseudo" feel, however the LCI tranny is twice as fast as the Steptronic...which I did like. So, you lose the solid feel of the step, but gain the faster gear shifts. Personally, I'd have to spend the $500 on the sport paddles to like this arrangement.

The 535xi loaner was also filthy dirty! I just got home from work at 1:15AM and washed it!!! Is that insane of me?!?! I felt bad for the car....it needed a lift. It has only 2600 miles on it, and I guarantee it hasn't been washed since they got it. I even clayed the hood and Rejex'd it and sprayed the tires with Armour All!!

They've probably love giving me loaners in the future!

Next stop.....pick up the M5 Friday, post 1200 mile break-in! I'll be removing the charcoal filters ASAP and installing BMC filters, then RPI scoops. I can't wait to unleash "The Beast" tomorrow!
