i have the annoying low idle vibration in my 06 525i. the dealer says the car already has the upgraded exhaust bracket as described in other threads on this issue. so can the idle on this car be adjusted or not? some people say yes, and that they have even had it done. no surprise, my dealer says it can't be adjusted.

It can be adjusted, but it is a matter of updating/reprogramming the DME

well, here i sit at bmw . . . and the verdict is: idle not adjustible. they claim they cannot adjust the idle. period. they are installing the 'updated exhaust dampener bracket' thingie for $162. which of course is not covered by cpo or maintenece. i'm willing to bet it won't fix the idle vibration either (because i truly think the car is just idiling too low 550-600) but we'll see in about a half hour

Don't know about the petrol car, but the diesel idle speed certainly can be adjusted using DIS.

500-600 rpm idle is spot on (a/c off). The idle is not adjustable normally (although anything is possible with the right tools and expertise). If you car is idling poor, something else is wrong. Find the problem and fix it.
