I have a 2005 525i and I was wondering if it is ok for me to rotate my tires. I'vbe heard conflicting statements on this subject. Some saye that BMW recommends that you don't. If I should rotate them is it ok to do at it a tire shop or do I need to do it at the dealer? The dealer wants about $80 Discount Tire was $25 to rotate and balance. I want to make sure that my tires last long.

if you mean rotate as fit fronts to the back and vice versa...

....then it should be fine if all your wheels are the same size, (the ones in your picture are)

they should already be balanced fine

just do it yourself for free

If all tyres are the same size you can and should rotate.

Always put the better ones rear.

If you have sport package, you cannot rotate the tire due to different tire sizes. Same tire size, it's a must to save you money.

Yes, absolute can chance side to wheels... If You have sportpackage, then take wheel from rim and chance it to other side of car...
Extend lot of mileges to wheels..

of course you can, get them balanced or try them first, the down side you will be replacing 4 tyres at a time instead of 2 at a time as the rears wear faster

If they are non-directional (i.e. no arrow molded into the tire) I would use traditional rotation scheme: LR to LF, RR to RF, LF to RR, RF to LR. If they are rotational, switch same sides: LR and LF, RR and RF.
If you're keeping them on the rims, why would they need to be rebalanced?

If all 4 tires are the same size, then you should always rotate and balance your tires for more even wear. I think the industry standard is to rotate and blanace your tire every 5 to 6K miles, which in conventional cars is every other oil change. You should choose the cheapest place as long as you can guarantee that the cheaper place won't scratch your wheels.
