My car is at the shop being fitted with new bilsteins and I haven't been able to get back there to pick it up. So my question is: on a comfort-access-equiped car, can they lock the keys in the car so that I can pick the car up over the weekend using my second set of keys? Make sense?

I wouldn't think so as the car is supposed to be able to tell that they key is in the car and prevent the key from being locked in. Maybe the plastic valet key would work as opposed to one of the two CA key fobs...

Maybe if they lock the car with the drivers door open, put the key inside in a lead box inside the car so the signal would be blocked and closed the drivers door.

Or maybe leave the valet key for them to lock the car and mail it to you.

Only thing is that they should lock the car, keep the key, you pick up using your 2nd key and at a later date, you reclaim key nr. 1.

For a shorter period of time, I would suggest having them hide the key somewhere (presuming it?s not foul weather) but not overnight.

I spent almost an hour playing with the comfort access awhile back.

Its impossible to lock your key in the car UNLESS you use your second key to lock the doors while the first key is inside.

Not entirely. I spent two hours at a driving range waiting for my Dad to pick me up so I could go get my second key; I had put my keys in my golf bag when I got there, and two hours later forgot and put my bag in the trunk.

It can be done.

Are you serious??? I tried stuffing my key in all sorts of things and then closing the trunk after I locked the doors. The trunk just popped right back open and chirped at me like I was stupid. I was convinced the comfort access was indeed foolproof.

Didn't try using a golf bag though.

I guess I better be more careful.

I tried it again too when I got home - couldn't duplicate it. It's saved my bacon a few times, so overall my success rate is pretty good, but sitting in a parking lot for two hours really sucked.
