Noticed the other day that true 06 Spec E60's have a slightly different i-Drive control knob. Mine along with most are totally metal (plastic) but the new spec has what looks like a black leather insert on the top. Visually it;s the only difference i can see between on 05 & 06 car, but i do quite like the contrasting black/silver knob, as my car is Silver Grey with the Dalota Black interior so i think it would look better.

So how much are they?? can they just be swapped?? is it a very simple DIY job or does it need doing by a dealer??

Cheers,

Ps. Even got my Nokia 6230i covers in the same colour as my car.

Cheers, but that thread does not actually state whether you can or not. It goes more into the M5 knob & i'd not thought that was any different, so it's the MY06 i'm asking about with the leather top.

The answer is yes. Just pull it out and put the new in. It's 10sec job.

Very true, although as i purchased the phone (sim-free) specifically to be used with the cars BlueTooth, as my other handsets were either not compatible, no cradle was available or were just a little tatty, i thought i'd take up the phone stores offer of free covers & the ones i chose match the car almost perfectly

That's probably the worst case of sadness to date, although the wallpapers on my laptops are of either my current or previous car

Excellent & many thanks. That's exactly what i'm looking for & i think given my interior is Black Dakota & the Alu-Cube dash, i'd like to change the full aluminium knob for a part leather one & thus also making the interior fully MY06 spec
