Its so easy to overlook the good, and focus on the bad, but....not one day has passed since 2006 when I don't curse my squeaking seat. A better word to describe it is actually creaking, as if the seat has arthritis. I've tried to isolate it unsuccessfully. I'm 6'6" 220 and the articulated back rest is always fully forward. The sound seems to be originating from the area where the seat back connects with the seat bottom on the right. The left seems completely quiet. And I often rest my right elbow on the armrest when getting in, and some of the creaking may be coming from the middle console (but only when getting in/out). When driving down the road, the littlest shifts in the seat cause the creaking. I think every person who has ever ridden in my car has thought, nice car, but why is the seat creaking like a 1992 Lincoln Towncar in a 1 yr. old $70k BMW with 15k mi on it?.
My dealer doesn't fix a problem unless its glaringly obvious. I can't quite fault them on this one. What are they to do? Replace the seat? They would try to shoot petroleum based lubricant blindly into the seat until it dripped out the bottom...really!
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any similar experience with the comfort driver's seat. This is by far the most annoying problem with my car. Its a great car, but this is a niggling problem. I'd drive to a dealership within a few hundred miles of my location (CT) if I heard they addressed this issue successfully.
Thanks for any help

I often wondered why BMW offers 20 way seats and porsche's look like they adjust about 4 ways. I get it now.... In fact, the racier the seat the fewer moving parts. The competition seats in a 911 and in the track edition exotics (Ferraris etc...) are often one piece buckets.

I have the same issue , but I have traced the noise to where the Seat belt comes out of the B pillar. It has some thing to do with the spring loaded lower guide. When I take the car in for it's first service I will have it looked at, right now I just turn up the radio, or open the windows...

I also have comfort seats and noticed a noise originating from the seat belt/ B pillar area. However, whatever noise is made is not a squeak and does not occur too often. Obviously not often enough that the dealer could replicate it.

My seats didn't do that until I took it to a carwash/valet service. It seems that certain cheap leather conditioners cause the leather to make a squeking sound when rubbed together, which they obviously used. After treating the seats with a BMW approved leather conditioner, the sound disappeared.

i have an 06 550i with the sports seat and experience the same creaking.. i have found that when i sit in the car the edge of the sport seats under your right thigh pushes up against the center consol ever so slightly and makes a squeaking noise... im going to try to fix it this weekend... if you notice.. the part of the sport seat that holds your right thigh in place is very close to the center consol when the seat is not occupied so if you sit in it and lean against it... it can push against the center consol... tell me what you think....
