can active steering be disabled?

It adjusts the steering for sure when disabled, but it does NOT fully disable the AS function. Why would you want to disable AS, driving a bmw with AS just doesnt feel right.

I thought Active Steering was a big deal.. why would anyone want to disable it?

i was trying to trouble shoot a noise i have. so i wanted to temporarily disable it.

You can't turn the active steering off, just the DSC system.

From bmw.com:

If the vehicle is threatened with instability, such as by oversteering or braking on a changeable surface, DSC identifies the problem and can use Active Steering to help overcome it. For example, in order to reduce unsafe yaw, Active Steering can increase the angle of steering wheels faster than even the most expert driver.

Mine does NOT go off with the DSC button and it didn't on my 545 either.
