Dear e60 Forum:
Can a 2007 M5 Steering wheel work on a 2004 530i NON M5? I do not want to use paddles right now, but will later, but until then will the new 2007 M5 steering wheel bolt up ok on my 530i and will my steering wheel multi functions still work? (I know the M5 will has a "M" button instead of a diamond or * steering wheel button but couldn't I connect the new M5 HP button to the existing steering wheel i.e. "Mute radio" button)?
BMW is going to sell and make me a custom made "Red' and "Blue" stitch M steering wheel for my 530i, and will warranty it and guarantee it will work by my VIN #. It cost mega bucks, (SEE BMW INVOICE PICTURE BELOW), and it will take weeks to order and make, but I notice the round airbag it uses is not as abrupt and stands alone and rounded by itself, (SEE BMW PICTURES BELOW), like the 2007 M5 is. (SEE 4th and Last PICTURE BELOW of a real M5 Steering wheel & its round AIRBAG, and this is what I want to boy nextr week, but told by BMW that this 2007 M5 Steering wheel and its ROUND airbag will not work on my 2004!)
I saw a BMW artist sketch, (SEE PICTURE BELOW), and noticed it had a flatter piece on top of the air bag that's looks made into the sport M wheel, and not as rounded and stands alone all the way around as the 2007 M5 steering wheel round airbabg.
The BMW dealer has not any pictures of it and just wonder if anyone here at the forum might have a picture of it you might could send me. Also does it look like the M5 steering wheel?
QUESTION: Has anyone here at the e60 forum installed a 2007 BMW OEM M5 steering wheel on their 2004 e60 non M5? If so, what kind of problems did you run into, or did it go on well as your stock steering wheel?
Thanks in Advance!!

I believe there is a difference between the steering wheel mounting bracket for the "2004 - 8/2006" and the "9/2006+" E60's. I'm sure your dealer has information on this ...
(It may be an earlier month in 2006 when the change occurred, but that's what's filed away in my head from reading many threads. Please verify of course.)

I have seen some member mentioned that it will work if you change the lip or coil spring to Post 09/2005: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=61&fg=35 (Part #1).
or there is more info about it: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=7689&st=60
