I seem to remember on my o7 550i, it shows the caller's phone number when a call appears on the Idrive screen. On my 08 550 when i answer a incoming call, it just shows ******* on the idrive screen. I is this normal or is there somekind of setting that i can adjust. Another question is when there is no one in the front seat, my "airbag off light" on the overhead console would come on and off briefly, is this normal or should it be lit all the time when no one is sitting there. I know I can call the dealer and ask, but i rather hear from you 550 owners.

'06 550 has caller ID. The only times when it shows those characters is when I dial directly from my phone.

 

It should show the number calling if your mobile phone is fully compatible.Check against the list on the BMW site.

 

The airbag off light is normal as far as I recall. It just shows you the airbag has been switched off because there is no pressure on the seat. As it is not a malfunction, it should not stay on.

Is it possible in the US to have your caller ID blocked? normally either the number would show (if the caller is not in your address book) or the caller name is shown( when the caller is in your phone address book).

 

I've paired a number of phones with my E60, everything from a Razr to a Crackberry and Caller ID has always worked.

 

If it's a caller in your phone's address book you should see several characters and numbers as stored on your phone. However, if not in your address book, for some inbound calls not accompanied with Caller ID - numbers may not be displayed.

 

I get stars whenever I use my phone itself to dial/answer calls. When I call through the iDrive the name or number of the person will appear on the iDrive screen.

 

Thats what i had on my 07 550i, if the caller is listed in my phone directory, it shows their name or number. Now when i receive call in my car, all idrive screen display is a bunch of "*****". Will try to call dealer tomorrow and ask. thanks for responses

 

Mine does that too. As far as showing the names n numbers in the address book it does show.
