Hi all - I recently purchased an E61 6-speed 535xi. I've done a good bit of research on the mod front. But, as all of us CA people know, the smog nazis will do whatever they can to ruin our fun!

Ultimately, without "a guy", we're exposed to the bi-annual inspection (I just executed my first yesterday (passed)). So, minus said "guy", I wanted to just poll the forum and ask a couple of questions:

- How far are you going w/ your mods? (i.e., are you going the whole 9 yards, including such "visible" mods as intake/filters, BOVs, TBI, catless exhaust, etc.?)

Follow-ups to the first question:
- Are you just reversing your mods every time you go for an inspection?
- Any fear of on-the-spot inspections if you got pulled over? (I've read here and there that PoPo's/CHP can impound your ride if they find "illegal" modifications.

I'm starting down the path ($1k here, $1k there...lol) with AR catless DPs and MHD and am contemplating a custom, reversible exhaust system once I sell my E39M5. But the thought of impound scares the crap out of me!
