Hello California e60 Drivers:
I wanted to know if any of you are members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation. If so, has it been a good thing? Have you reaped any benefits? I am all for helping the family's of CHP officers killed in the line of duty. Outside of the feel good factor, any other insight? Thanks.

Before you donate any money ask for a financial back ground sheet showing what % actually is given to the charity. It has been my experience, you would be better off walking down to your local fire station and handing them the money than joining these types of charities.

If they are legitimate, they will not have a problem sending you the information, if they are not, they will not send you the informaiton. By US law, they are required to give you their financial information to be classified as a non-profit organization.

mbw14rsm:
Thanks for the advice. In reality I am trying to determine the "get out of jail free card" aspect of this organization. I know, I am pretty shallow to take some charity and turn it into "I am going to give you a warning this time". My dearly departed friend, Rodney Dangerfield, once said to me - "It's not something I'm proud of, it's just something I do". Thanks again.

I've heard of some who have gotten of tickets due to membership in this foundation. If you just want to get out of tickets though, the price seems too steep for that.

I guess it could be considered an insurance policy then. Maybe I should join

I agree with Heezy. The price is too steep. Though I have a friend that got away with one ticket...I think it's still cheaper to just pay for the ticket and traffic school!
