Im not dissagreeing with everyone that the gas may be low but!!

last year a friend bought her car to me about a different problem
I went for a drive and the air was hardly working
I asked her what was wrong and she said the BMW mechanics said it needed more gas and its booked it.

I pulled of the two filter covers under the bonnet and they were full of leaves and rubbish.

I had two spare and put them in and it was perfect.

I then did the same to mine and it made a huge difference as well.

Like I said you may need more gas, but check your two filters first.

I also had the same problem

Especially hot day took more than 20 minutes until the cold wind comes out.
And
Monitoring in the ISTA / D. Refrigerant pressure of the high-pressure side was not at all up.
It has been completely resolved in the final compressor replacement.

The cause is the failure of the pressure control of the internal variable compressor.

I live on Guam and it is always hot and the drives are no longer than 20 mins. This is a sad thing well any suggestions on where and what compressor to buy? Aside from the compressor and compressor bokts is there anything else?

Anybody try ICE 32?

 

I have the same problem except mine only gets a little cold at highway speeds, around town I'm burning up! I'm in south Florida and it is hot now!
To add insult to injury my passenger window won't go down now, it went up by itself and now it won't lower with any switch.
I had older Hondas with less issues, it's a 2006 530i btw.

 

I've yet to fully resolve this, may decide to just replace my compressor. But something I now notice. I work nights and usually get off at around 3:30-4am. It's still fairly warm where I live at that time so I drive home with the AC on. It has no problems getting cold at that time it's not blazingly hot like during the day. But I noticed that when the air is cold, it sometimes gets warm or hot when I accelerate, then get cold again? This o lay happens when I have the AC on but don't have the Max AC turned on. Should I be concerned with this?

not sure if there are orifice tubes on these cars, but is it possible you have a plugged line somewhere?

 

How fast are you accelerating? If you push the pedal all the way through, down to where it clicks, it will shut off the AC to give you max acceleration. Also, if the engine is running really hot, it will start getting rid of heat through heater system. At that point I would assume you'd be getting warnings on the dash too.
