A/C problem help....
#1
Just recently my a/c has started to come on without me turning it on. I know that when I first start my car it will come on, I'm ok with this as I just turn it off if I don't need it. This problem I am having is it will come on out of no where. Has this happened to anyone? Is it a setting that I may have activated by accident?

Three knobs control the AC system. The ones on either side control temp for driver and passenger. The center knob has a button in the center with the word "Auto" on it. Pressing this acitvates the automatic climate control. Press again turns off the auto system, allowing either side to control fan speed the appropriate knob...

^^^^ I definitely already tried that. No luck. You think my computer system goes nuts in the morning? This has only happened for about a month and its not a daily occurrence.

I've had the same thing happen on my '06 525i manual. it would come on periodically out of the blue. i had it fixed under warranty unfortunately i cannot recall what the problem was (either a faulty on/off fan knob or sensor ) Also request the tech go on a test drive as they will claim they could not replicate the problem. good luck.
On a slightly related topic, i had the on/off knob break on me. i did not even realized when it happened as i never press the knob too hard anyhow had it covered under warranty but they told me they had to replace the whole panel (on/off, climate control, temp (degrees) selectors knobs) costs around $1000. I mention this just incase if they tell you it's the problem with the on/off knob be prepared for this. I have also come across few threads mentioning the KNOB ISSUES.

my car does that too sometimes. my air turns on by itself so I hit the off button... 20 seconds later its back on. after about the 4th time of turning it off it will stay off. It only does it once and a while though. wtf

I was going to bring it to the dealership, but since my new car warranty is already over and I only have CPO now, they will charge me $50 just too look at it. I'm afraid that they will say they couldn't replicate the problem and still charge me $50 and do nothing.
