Search for foul A/C smell or just "ac smell." The solutions that seemed to worked(as suggested by other members with varying procedure) is:

1. Turn off the "snow" button.
2. Turn the AC fan to the highest setting (not the same as MAX).
3. Turn the dial temperature to the maximum hot setting (both of them).
4. Open all windows.
5. Drive the car for around for about 20 to 30 minutes.

So driving around with the blower on maximum setting in the hottest position WITH the "snow" button OFF (just like vent only setting).

Your car's AC will not have the bad smell for several months or longer. Let me know if it helps.

Try to get in the habit of turning off the "snow button" sveral minutes before you park the car. It allows the fan to blow the moisture off of the evaporator coil so that it is dry and then you will not have problem. I have been doing this for years and never had a problem.

This reminds me of the old Firesign Theater wheeze - "Poor people can't afford air conditioning and are forced to use their furnaces to heat their homes in the summer. This fries the fungus." Actually accurate in this case.

I only notice the smell when I switch the aircon off. Whilst the aircon is on (UK haha) there is no smell.

I have the same problem. I don't get the smell when the a/c is on, and smells pretty bad when the a/c is off(vent on).
