Bought an e60 yesterday. Wonderful car!

My 740-99 was due for a service, so I want to my local dealer. As I strolled I saw a Mystic Blue e60

The Mystic Blue car was a 520 (MY04) with a very basic spec. I took it for a drive and really enjoyed it. It made my 740 feel old... The e60 bettered it in every way (except for equipment and performance). I ended up trading my car for the 520.

I think he meant a BMW 740

I had a 728i of the same series...great car and way ahead of its time but sadly outdated now.....I did get a brand-new 750i loaner when my E60 was getting serviced last mon-tues and it was a beast...Fantastic engine (mind you It bloody well should be for the ?80,000 it cost specced up!)

Happiness comes in small doses... My wife isn't happy with the new car So far:

- "Why are there so many pedals? No auto!!!"
- "No leather?!"
- "My car looked classy, this looks strange."
- "It feels cheap."
- "It's slow."
- "Where are the shades?"
- etc.

She's not being mean, she just loved "her" old car.

I'm still thrilled with the e60, however. Ride, transmission and steering is beautiful - fantastic feel. I also enjoy driving a smaller car, I connect alot better with this car.

Having previously owned two 740:s with V8 engines, I have to say that I'm very impressed with the small engine in the 520. I really think that it's underrated, very smooth and linear power delivery.

I'm not implying that the 520 is a better car than its "bigger brothers" - it isn't - but a very comfortable way to travel.

Oops, should read "very smooth and refined power delivery."

We went from an 02 535i to the 520i, and albeit the lack of power, I find the 520i quite entertaining.

As all BMWs it handles quite a lot of revving and is very civilized.. IMHO this is also the most silent and cultivated engine available in the E60.

Doctor, i am seriously considering getting a 750Li. I was just wondering, in your opinion, what car would you prefer to drive a 5 series or the 7?
