My Ride: White w/ auburn interior, 2005 BMW 545i, with sport package, smg, navigation, head-up display, premium sound package, and cold weather package

I am very strongly considering getting rid of my 2005 545i due to the string of problems i have been recieving over the last few months. I have had this car towed off the road more times than i can count. I have had ignition problems, active steering problems, battery problems abs problems and now my smg has been malfunctioning. It has caused me to be stranded on the side of the road twice in the past two weeks, once the day before thanksgiving and again today. I am also tired of gettign the run around from Hassel BMW and having to constantly call them in order to find out what is going on. I have never had nor do i have problems with my 2000 328i and that car is now approaching 180,000 miles. With my warranty coming to an end i do not want to get stuck with this car and the bills attached to it.

Tell your servicing dealership that you want, no wait, you DEMAND a buyback and talk to the service manager if you have to. If you've had this many problems with the car, then BMW shouldn't have a problem going thru with this. Safety is BMW's #1 concern (to avoid any litigation, court apperances, disturbance of reputation) and will more than happy to give you a complete and full refund of your car including any reasonable mods (such as clear armor, touch of class, alarm), provided that you can show proof. Good luck!

No way they are going to by back a 2005. Sounds like it's time to trade it in on something else.

A "trade assist" on a new vehicle at invoice price (even better if you do an ED) is the minimum I would settle for. BMW did this for me after 11 months and 15,000 on an '04 530 and I upgraded to an '05 545 at an unbelievable 594/mo lease for 36 months.

Even after all that, my new 545 was problematic as well. BMW replaced the engine last November and after 12 times in the shop in 12 months for various issues, both before and after the engine swap, (PM me if you want more details) actually gave me a check for my last 6 lease payments plus the disposition fee of $350.00, totaling over $4500.

They WILL do the right thing you if are persistent, and work with them in a professional and business-like manner. Stay cool and calm and insist on meeting with the dealers General Manager and the (BMW regional) After-Sale Marketing Manager (AMM). Make sure your problems are well documented with service receipts, and remember to keep your cool. If your situation warrants it BMW will step up for you. Good Luck, let us know how things work out.
