I picked up a clean 05 545i sport w/6 speed and 85k for $13k. First thing I did was buy the Bentley manual. No issues yet, but I am ready. I changed the control arms (easy job), and replaced the springs and shocks, and it feels like new. Just love the car. My advice is be picky, and don't pay too much. V8 cars are not in demand, so you should be able to get a really, really good deal.

About the 535i, any inputs on reliability of the 6 speed manual vs 6 spd sport auto on the 09-10 models? I track an E46 M3, of course with the 6 spd, but on the fence for a daily driven 535 M Sport pkg as far as transmission.

Let me hear feedbacks on clutch life, seals, etc etc. Thanks.

"Fragile"? BS.

Even the E39 ///M5 would have eventual wear on water pump and control arm bushings. These are mechanical devices, and they wear out.
