Yep...get a good warranty!! (I guess CPO is the warranty name in the US?)

I saw a topic or two on HPFP (hight pressure fuel pump I guess) going bad, and what is mentioned above (battery and so on)

While BMW are great cars to drive, some can have mayor issues..and the more gadgets you have on the car (like power seats and so on) the more things will go south on you...

So basically ....CPO is the way to o...after that you can get almost every thing fixed

Good look with buying the car and hope you enjoy it!!

I also got a 04 545 auto cpo with 67k, replaced the thermostat, ac compressor and my left head light other that the car run's great. Have the car check out before your purchase... Good luck.

The HPFP is a serious problem with the N54 engine found in the 535 and 335 -- not the V8 in the 545. I would definitely get it CPO if from a BMW dealer. If CPO is unavailable for this car, get an aftermarket warranty. Getting a used 545 (or any BMW) with lots of miles puts you at risk for extremely expensive repais down the road. Our cars drive fantastic but they are not Hondas in terms of reliability and cost of repairs.

Congrats on the 545, you will love it. I picked up an '05 loaded a few months back and have had a couple what I would call minor issues. Enjoy your new baby and treat her well, she will reward you for it!!
