Default Buying with high miles- Should I?

I found a 2010 535i Xdrive M-sport, HUD, with all the options that I want but it has 60,000. The car fax is pretty spotty on the service records. Fuel injectors replaced twice? I was trying to find this car with under 40k but this is a nice package. It is from a lease return dealer and not CPO. Would you experienced E60 owners buy it? With our with our an aftermarket warranty? Does anyone on the site sell warranties?

Thank you.
Scott

Actually, while 60K miles might be considered a "high mileage" car this one, at the right price, may not be a bad deal. It's probably a road car (driven about 1500 miles a month or about 400 miles a week) and sometimes those miles can be easier on a BMW than one that is driven 2 miles a day. That said, BMWs are tough and expensive to maintain after warranty - even regular service can be pricey. There are several aftermarket warranty companies - I can't recommend any personally but others on this forum could. Even with a good service record I recommend your investing in a thorough BMW inspection before you sign papers and hand over a check. That way you'll know what might need to be serviced - nothing like driving out and discovering you'll need a $$$$$ brake job!

If you're financing it through a credit union, most of them offer a pretty extensive warranty plan. I don't know whether banks offer plans though. As Luigi said, get an inspection before you buy it.

A sad day it is when 60,000 miles is considered "high" for a BMW...

This the carbon black one in seattle? I was just looking at the same car yesterday! Not looking for an xDrive... but the car seemed like it was in solid condition, minus the horrible detail work...

Good idea about a BMW inspection. Yes this is the one in Seattle. I would feel more comfortable with 40k and a warranty but these options seem hard to find.

I'll do a search here for warranty information.

i work at a dealership i can tell you dont trust a car fax for service history its spotty on every car .. car fax is an example of superior marketing.. do have it checked by a mechanic ... i just bought an 08 550i with 19k miles i still had a mechanic check it, money well spent.

Last do consider a warranty. over the years trading for these cars benz bimmer audi etc etc they can really eat your lunch on the repairs .. and only buy a full coverage warranty that will cover everything or exclusionary is what you want where the warranty list items that are not covered where everything else not listed is covered

edit: forgot to add i bought a warranty on mine ... been burned too many times not buying one lol

I wouldnt get it, a 2010 that they wont CPO?? If the car was in good shape they would cpo it because they know they wouldnt be paying much out of pocket.......Obviously this is a problem car and they dont want to be covering all the issues it may have.

If it's bought at auction by a "lease return dealer" would that mean that the original lease BMW dealer passed on it and sent it to auction maybe because of problems? Or would they just pass on it because it's got 60k miles and is out of warranty and can't be CPO?
