Buying an E60 - What Issues To Look For?
#11
I have one of the earliest E60s (built August 03, registered Sept 03). The previous owner had the pleasure of 13 dealer visits in 3 years (including 3 routine servicing). I presume the rest were for faults resolved under warranty - or maybe he just liked the BMW coffee.
I'm happy with that, as the car now seems absolutely rock solid in every way (apart from my squeaky steering wheel). The software has been upgraded to CIP 21 or thereabouts.

To the OP, please remeber that few people report a solid car, its usually people with problems that you will see posting. That doesnt mean that most 04 models have problems, its most likely the other way around.

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
First, the car should be a 12-04 or younger, for safty.
Second, 3-05 new gas engines.
Third, check the iDrive - and then be sure that the BMW Service OK's that!!!
Tires, pedals, paint, wheels and tyres and the interiour...
Then 530dA or a 545iA???
Extras: Comfort Seats, Hi-Fi or even better Logic7.
Paint and interiour colours as you want, or if you find a really nice unit...
DO NOT BUY A TUNED E60!
