Hi friends,
I am buying the new LCI 525 i next month(our engine here is 2500 cc and with 218 hp,0-100 in 7.9 sec)
It will cost me 130000 usd,its abit crazy here in thailaand and believe me 525i is the biggest engine here

I was going for 520d (95000 usd) but no active steering,no adaptive headlights,no comfort seat,no new gearshift, and no front bmw trademark chromium)
Hope I made the right choice spending 35000 usd more for these features--feedback greatly appreciated

My main question is I like smooth rides and this car comes with stock wheel 17 inch run flat tyre 225/50 both front and rear same
I want to change to M 166 design 19inch but i dont want to put the car down at all and I need soft smooth ride
I was thinking 235/45/19 front and 265/40 back,is this logic possible? i mean will it rub?

second option we all know this has been tested and recommended spec its 245/35 front and 275/30 rear--is this ride smooth, roads in thailand is very rough and this is my big concern

I Thank you all members in advance and look forward to be part of this forum..

Hello,

You could go with M166 in sizes 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 R (staggered setup). You can also go with 245/35/19 allround like I did with my new wheels. There will be no rubbing as this (or these) are/is the OEM BMW setup.

I feel that the ride isn't uncomfortable with 35mm sidewall. If you want little more sidewall, you could go with 245/40/18, and for example BMW 135M wheels (they look like 166M).

mike, i'm in malaysia and if i'm not mistaken, that is more or less the price that we pay here for a 525i(lci or pre-lci)...$130,000.00 is quite hefty if you compare the pricing in USA...

why not get the msport model...here in malaysia, the 525i msport comes standard with the 18" m135 rims...you can opt for an m172 if you like, but add-on $$$...if it come with the original option, i think the 19" m166 is not a problem at all...on top of that, it also comes with the m aero kit and lots of other m stuff...

attached is the link :
http://www.bmw.com.my/com/en/index_narrowband.html

i think it's supposed to be similar in terms of specs...

hope this helped...

thanks for the message,in thailand though there is no option such as M sport, they have very less option here ,you either have 520d with minimum option or 525i with key options ,the M you have to go out in the market and do in the car decoration shop which they really have alot in Bangkok

So you think 245/35 and 275/30 is a smooth enough ride and wont be too much different from the stock tyre?

Thanks again

Dear Mike,

See this.

Do not buy any old technology, above you can see the BMW MY '08 engine facts!

All extras can be ordered to the new 177 hp 520d!

You know better!

BTW, the new 3.0 l 525i acc's in 7,1 sec from 0-100 km/h.

in thailand 520d is still 163hp didnt change after this facelift,
the 525i received new engine but in thailand they tuned to 2500 cc ,i know this sound weird but it is what it is..(old 525i in thailand had just 192hp but this one is 218hp)

i asked them many times why in eurpoean countries its 3000cc they said if they have the same engine the price would be 20000 usd more so maybe thats why they tuned down..

Thanks for your response
