Default Buying a 2008 535xi, what to look for?

I am new around here and will soon be purchasing my first BMW, coming from Saab. I am mechanically inclined (read: I've never paid for any maintenance/diagnostic work on any of my cars, ever.) and have read a ton of stuff on this forum and elsewhere.

I am also sure this question has been asked before, but I was unable to locate a specific thread.

I know of the HPFP and injector issues, and of the warranty until 110k miles. I also read about the waste gate rattling complaints and saw that the turbos were also warranted (until 82k?) if the waste gate caused the failure.

The car in question has every single option available in 2008, has <60,000 miles, and they are asking ~23k. Besides testing virtually all the features to ensure their function, does anyone have any specific areas I should focus on?

TIA.

At 60k miles, make sure you have a new battery, the control arms are fine and there are no leaks.

Edit: Make sure the sunroof seal is not whistling.

My 08 535xi needed a new water pump at 50,000miles. So check and see if that was replaced. Only issue I had with the car to date.

I just changed water pump too. At this mileage request to replace the battery - these cars are very sensitive to power fluctuations... If possible, check the history. If the car was in the dealership for repairs every few months - stay away - it will not get better...

all of these are the same for my E90 335i. 80k now and just replaced battery because the Comfort Access was not working consistently. CCC nav unit replaced about 5k miles ago, and new turbos all under warranty I think im on HPFP #3.
I dont think id ever own one under warranty. Car is so much fun to drive I am picking up a second.

I just threw a deposit down on a 09 535xi my must have options were private party(no tax) sport perm, idrive, CA, PDC, front rear heated seats, shadowline trim, blk interior, and most importantly CPO. I will add the Msport kit. Very hard car to find with all those options so settled on an automatic.

I know I am better at finding bmw's than any dealer with all the right opts.

TTuned, a bit off topic, but curious why you went with the xi over the RWD in AZ?

Water pump, HPFP recall done, battery.

Theree things that will cost you to fix money, get it done, How many miles, make sure the water pump was replaced, that is at least a grand out of your pocket.

2008 and prior N54's suffer from inadequate arrangement for getting oil to the valve lifters, results in very uncool loud ticking from valve train. Re-design was made standard in later production, BMW retrofitted earlier engines under warranty but only if customer complained sufficiently. In my case, dealer said not to worry, other people's cars were much worse, I didn't press - my bad.
