i was on my way back to the city coming from upstate NY, i accidentally run through a pot hole( along RT-17). to make the story short-my left front tire got busted. Questions is-would it be better for me to buy a new pair for the front or a single new tire would not affect much of the steering as long as i have it balanced? and where would be a good shop to buy a good brand of tire in NY/NJ(i'll be looking for an all season RFT)? thanks guys!

i would check the tread of the other front tire. if its condition is 6 out of 10 or higher in terms of tread life then I would just buy single unless you get a big discount on buying two. then u get to buy the two brand new and save the old.
as far as steering having one brand new and the old wouldnt effect much, and make sure u do wheel alignment and balancing which could be bigger factors when it comes to steering and to avoid unnecessarily rapid tire wearing.

+1...it all depends on how much tread life you have on the other front tire.

Been there done that!

Bummer ... unless you've already worn the tire on the opposite side more than 25% you should be able to replace the one that is damaged. Check your wheel - don't be surprised to find that may also have been injured!!

Then immediately buy wheel and tire insurance - especially if you have the sport package! There are several aftermarket options available. Use search!

Another option for you:

TireRack works too ... shop thru the link in my signature and get an extra 5% rebate!

I would suggest having the front suspension checked too. That's a pretty hard hit to break tire. No doubt the alignment is probably out also. I hate pot holes with a passion. Fortunately in the south we don't have many. Best of luck getting it back to specs.

after replacing the tire, i tried to observed it and it ran well( i think) i was letting go of the steering wheel when i was running 60-70( i know i was supposed to only run 50MPH with a donut) but i think alignment and suspension is pretty much the same BUT you're right it's better to have it checked and I will do that thanks for the advice fusion!
