Having lived both in NY, NJ, and NC. I can tell you that while I was young, NY was a fun place to live. Now that I'm a bit older, I far more appreciate the lifestyle, cost of living, and affordability that NC provides. It seems that there are far more nothern transplants in the Charlotte area (myself included) than those born in the area.
Back on topic, pot hole damage is rough. I agree, not worth fighting the city over it.
