Hi
First time post to this forum...and I have only had my 525 for a few days! What a fantastic vehicle....LR Disco 02 Plate beforehand
Can anybody help me with my business Sat Nav which doesnt seem to read the DVD. I went into my local dealer today and they gave me a 2006 disk to replace the 2004 one I had....but it made no difference....it reads simply insert DVD.....it isnt reading it (It isnt dirty!)
After a bit of googling I came across somebody who burn their audio tracks onto a DVD in MP3 format and I tried this....it was successful in playing so its evident that the DVD is reading disks but not the SAT Nav DVD....so I thought I would copy the SAT Nav DVD and burn a copy....which was fine but it couldn't read the format when inserted...back to stage one.
Can anybody suggest what the problem may be here, why can it read audio on a DVD but not DVD data?
P.S The dealer printed of the original spec sheet for me (I wondered if it was the wrong type business Vs professional) it was spec'd with business

How many slots do you have in your centre console for discs, 1 or 2? Does your Idrive screen fill the whole pod from side to side or is there a load of plastic trim down each side?
Just the one slot, there is a CD player in the glove box but I havent even got round to that yet!
The screen is square and has about 5cm of plastic to either side (all set behind a clear cover)

If you go to buy the "new" disk wouldnt they offer you / or tell you that new software was needed???? they didnt mention any of this to me...did you have to pay for the software upgrade??? and do you remember the message you got prior to the upgrade???
It was the same message with the previous disk however...and that was approx year of manufacture for the car...I expect it came with the car
I admit to being really confused....My Nuvi was / is so much easier

my 2004 disc which came with the car worked
i don't remember what the message was when i first inserted the 2007 disc
i didn't buy it from bmw, a friend of mine gave it to me and i had to pay for the software update (it enabled mp3's too
)
