I get this too - a burnt rubber sort of smell, but I get it sometimes if I havent been driving that hard.

Only notice it when I get out of the car, and seems stronger at the back of the car.

Interesting to know what it was....

Interesting.....

I also got this smell around the car (but seemed to come from the front of the car...); twice during the last 3 months and I was wondering if the car was not starting to burn....
But I finally thought that it was due to the fact that the car was new.

Happy to see that either I was paranoiac or many other BMWs will burn in the next coming days....

Alot of things that can cause the smell. Heated tires, exhaust or heated brake discs not necesarely from braking itself but from DSC and alot more possible sources. Don't worry too much.

No, not the trans.

I'm with BetterMakeWay, when the engine and exhaust gets real hot the smells come out.

I kind of love it, it's the smell of racing.
