I had cigarette lighter repaired under warranty and found this broken plastic piece about one inch long on the passenger's side. Anybody know where this piece comes from? I also noticed the lower center trim (with the heated seat button) is loose on the left.

I'm sure one of the experts can help. It appears to be a retention tab, as you probably already figured. It may explain the loose trim. Have you checked behind it? GL.

I had the AC's regulator changed do to failure in my '05 525iA and they broke the console (see pic).
After a very long story they got it right.

There are no loose parts in a E60, have them to get it right.

It would be nice to know your whereabouts!

There is no way for me to remove it because it's firmly attached on the right side. If you look at the picture posted by "Ricracing", it's loose where the left heated seat activation button is. There suppose to be a tab inside that gets pushed down with a screwdriver on both sides to release the trim. But I have no idea what it looks like.

I'm from USA. Updated my profile just now.

I'd just go back to the dealership and let them sort it out. GL.

Check realoem.com

RealOEM.com Home => Select your car => Vehicle trim => Instrument carrier / mounting parts

From the pic, it looks like that piece was molded as part of the dash. I'm also guessing that is why your trim is loose. Not an easy or cheap fix.

At least it's under warranty and the dealer will have to cough up for what they damaged.
