Broken Cylinder Head Bolt on 2006 530i N52 engine
I just been told by my dealership that my engine is leaking oil because of a broken cylinder head bolt. I've search the forum and the web and have seen that this is a common problem caused by a detect in BMW's manufacturing. I've spent hours talking to BMWNA and my local dealership but have just wasted my time and have received no support. The cost by the dealership is $4,500 and a quote from a local Indy repair shop quoted by $2,700. Can anyone advise on what to do?
Any help would be much appreciated.

That's way too much to pay. Do it yourself, I did. Get a reverse bit drill to drill out the broken bolt and go to the dealer to get a new bolt and torque it correctly in. That's what I did and no more oil leak. You do have to loosen up or remove the intake manifold to get enough room to drill out the bolt though. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response. I will talk to my mechanic and give him the directions. Would you happen to know what the correct revised torque specs are? I'm completely disappointed in BMW's negligence for this matter, and their unwillingness to assume responsibility. I'm glad there are good people like you that can help resolve this without paying BMW $4,500. Making money off of their own incompetency. That's not fair.
