hey guys,
i'm about to sell my old tires/wheels. a while back i hit a pothole, ended up replacing the wheel and kept the old run flat. anyways since then i drove on the same tire with no problems. after taking off my old set of rims i noticed the tire was bulging out. is it still safe to drive with this? i assume this is what it does when you get a flat, which is part of the reinforced walls. anyways i was going to sell the tire but wondering if i should because i dont want to sell a defective tire. here are some pics, let me know if you think this is normal.

IMO, would not sell it. Take it to a tire shop and see what they say as well....

I figured if it was unsafe the tire ppl wouldnt have installed it... i figured they'd inspect it first. but they told me i didnt have to replace the tire. maybe they were being lazy!

That don't look good at all, strange that the tire shop did notice that.

I would buy a new tire at once, actually two new tires for the same axle.

Put the new ones rear if possible.

isnt that a bubble? those i believe are not fixable and must be replaced...i think you get them from large potholes or bumps.. its a weakening of the wall... kinda like a hernia i believe..lol.. (friends having surgery, made me think of it) lol

Bubble. Got them all the time on my R32. They can't be fixed. Need to replace the tire.

That "bubble" is more likely a failure of the tire's internals belts and cords ... the runflat design, with very sturdy sidewall construction prevents the tire from ripping apart the way a standard tire might.

IMHO the tire is not safe and should be replaced as quickly as possible; the tire shop installer who may not have noticed this probably needs an eye exam!

This damage on mine was much more obvious - though the tire never lost air pressure!

if you have the wheel and tire insurance that should be covered correct?
