It's good to know that design defects are our major problem. We keep telling them about them--to some extent.

"Whered you get the breakdown list?"

Article in the Detroit Free Press. I don't think the link works anymore.

There are over 200 problems that can be identified in the survey. In about 55 of these problems the E60 sedan significantly outperforms the midsize premium car segment - ride & handling, engine, braking, seats, build quality ... you know, all the stuff that makes a great car great.

There were only 3 problem areas where the E60 was rated much worse than others in the segment. Guess which areas those were?
- HVAC controls
- Audio controls
- Turn signals
USER ERROR! USER ERROR!

These results do not surprise us at all ... we've talked openly and often about all of this - the good and the bad.

But what I find most interesting is that we see validation - from the perspective of the customer - of a corporation actually living up to its credo. BMW builds a high-quality, fun-to-drive car: the ultimate driving machine. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I find that refreshing.

Turn signals are just plain annoying sometimes in the E60
Going into the i-drive just to adjust the cold air delivery when all the other controls are on the centre dash is also stupid

Im surprised run-flats are not no1 design flaw as they seriously compromise the ride quality and on the site are the no1 complaint.

Turn signal is fine on the E60 or any new BMW with soft blinkers. I really prefer them over the old triditional ones. and I really like the triple blink... actually i would like 5 blinks over 3 blinks...

going into the iDrive to adjust the cold aire delivery is a pain in the butt tho. I agree... they should have had that and the air flow direction on the dash around the temp setting like in the E90.

The turn signals are one of the coolest part of the car. They are soooooooo easy to operate......its hard for me now to drive a car with regular turn signals.
